HAF Easter Holiday Club

Supporting Children, Strengthening Families, Enriching Our Community
GOAL Foundation UK is proud to deliver its Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Easter Holiday Club for children and families in our community. This project has been developed to provide a safe, active, inclusive and enjoyable holiday experience for children during the school break, while also supporting families with access to healthy food, positive activities and meaningful community engagement.
Funded by the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and supported by GOAL Foundation UK, this programme is designed to benefit children who may otherwise have limited access to structured holiday activities. Through sports, traditional games, healthy meals and social interaction, the HAF project helps children stay active, confident and connected.

What the HAF Project Offers
Our Easter holiday club brings together a wide range of activities that support children’s physical, emotional and social wellbeing. The programme includes:
- supervised sports and fun games
- healthy and nutritious meals
- safe and inclusive group activities
- opportunities to build confidence and teamwork
- physical exercise and active play
- cultural and traditional games, including Dariyabandha
- positive engagement with children from different backgrounds
The sessions are designed to create a welcoming environment where children can learn, play, socialise and develop new skills during the holidays.
Why This Project Matters
School holidays can be challenging for many families. Some children have fewer opportunities to take part in organised activities, stay physically active or access healthy meals outside school. The HAF project responds directly to those needs by creating a space where children can benefit from both enrichment and support.
This programme has a positive impact on the community in several important ways.
- Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: Children are encouraged to take part in physical activity, outdoor play and active group sessions. This helps reduce inactivity, supports fitness and encourages healthier routines during the holiday period.
- Supporting Nutrition and Wellbeing: A healthy meal is provided during the programme, helping to ensure children receive proper nourishment in a supportive setting. This also offers reassurance to families during the school holidays.
- Building Confidence and Social Skills: Children learn to work together, follow instructions, communicate with others and take part in team-based activities. These experiences help improve confidence, discipline, friendship and social development.
- Strengthening Community Inclusion: The HAF project brings together children and families from across the local community. It helps create stronger community ties and promotes inclusion, belonging and positive participation.
- Celebrating Culture and Heritage: One of the unique features of our programme is the promotion of traditional rural games from Bangladesh. By introducing games such as Dariyabandha, we help younger generations connect with their heritage while enjoying physical activity, teamwork and fun in a modern UK setting.
Impact on Society
The HAF project is not only beneficial for individual children and families, but also for society more widely.
A well-planned holiday programme helps reduce social isolation, encourages positive use of free time and gives children a structured and supportive environment. This can improve behaviour, strengthen self-esteem and support better long-term outcomes for young people.
For parents and carers, the project offers reassurance that their children are spending time in a safe, meaningful and well-supervised environment. For the wider community, it creates stronger links between families, voluntary organisations and local support networks.
Projects like this also help address wider issues such as food insecurity, lack of access to enrichment opportunities, reduced physical activity and disconnection from culture and community life. By responding to these challenges in a practical way, the HAF project plays a valuable role in building a healthier, more engaged and more resilient community.
